Welcome to the Barmby Moor Parish Council website.

Barmby Moor is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It is situated approximately 1.5 miles west of Pocklington.  According to the 2011 UK census, Barmby Moor parish had a population of 1,114.

The village was originally a market town with a coaching inn (Barmby Moor House - now a private residence). It has a church, St Catherine's, a Methodist chapel, village hall, primary school, post office and a pub, The Boot & Slipper. The church and the Manor House (another private residence)are designated as Grade II* listed buildings.

Each July a traditional fete - the Barmby Feast - is held in the village.

The village is fortunate in having access to FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet) highspeed broadband, allowing download speeds of over 70 mbps.

The Met Office has issued the following weather warnings

YELLOW warning of SNOW.  Effective 00:05 Saturday 17 March to 23:55 Saturday 17 March.
YELLOW warning of ICE.  Effective 00:05 Saturday 17 March to 23:55 Saturday 17 March.
A band of rain will turn more widely to snow early Saturday morning followed by scattered snow showers through the remainder of the day. These showers may become more prolonged, particularly during the evening. Any melting of lying snow will lead to an ice risk on untreated surfaces on Saturday morning and night. Travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel is possible. Some rural communities could become cut off and power cuts may occur. Some injuries from slips and falls are possible on icy surfaces.
AMBER warning of SNOW.  Effective 16:00 Saturday 17 March to 09:00 Sunday 18 March.

Snow showers are expected to become more frequent through Saturday evening and night with icy patches also developing on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. Strong easterly winds will lead to some temporary blizzard conditions and drifting of snow. Travel delays on roads are likely, stranding some vehicles and passengers. Some delays and cancellations to rail and air travel are likely. There is a chance that some rural communities will be cut off. Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are expected.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has advised us that they intend to temporarily close part of Flat Lane, Barmby Moor between its junction with Main Street and St Helen's Square commencing on 26th  March 2018 to enable essential electrical maintenance work.
